Tankless Maintenance & Descaling

A tankless water heater is an investment in your home’s comfort and efficiency, and regular maintenance protects it. Hard water, common throughout Central Florida, deposits minerals inside the heat exchanger, reducing efficiency and triggering costly repairs. We provide scheduled maintenance and professional descaling that extends your system’s life, preserves efficiency, and catches small problems before they become emergencies. Whether you own a Navien, Rinnai, or Rheem system, we tailor a plan to your water hardness and usage. Most customers on a plan avoid emergency calls and enjoy reliable hot water for 15+ years.

// Why Central Florida chooses us

What sets our tankless maintenance apart.

01

Descaling Protects Your Heat Exchanger

Mineral scale on the heat exchanger's copper tubing reduces heat transfer efficiency, forcing the system to burn more gas. In hard-water areas, scale accumulates fast. Professional descaling with food-safe dilute acid dissolves deposits without harm, and annual descaling can add 3 to 5 years of life and recover 10 to 15 percent of lost efficiency.

02

Regular Inspections Catch Small Issues

A loose gas connection, a worn electrode, or a failing pressure relief valve rarely announces itself until your system loses hot water on a cold morning. During scheduled maintenance we test gas pressure, inspect electrical connections, verify water flow, and listen for unusual sounds, with the same rigor we bring to emergency repairs.

03

Complete Service History Documentation

Every visit, we photograph the system's condition, document test results, and note findings in a file we keep. If issues arise, that history helps us understand the system's trajectory and make informed recommendations. Homeowners who sell their homes appreciate this record, as it demonstrates responsible ownership.

04

Prevents Seasonal Hot Water Shortages

Winter demand surges when homeowners crank up showers and heating loads, often before systems have been serviced. We schedule spring and fall visits to clean filters, verify flow, and descale as needed, so you are never caught without hot water. Plan members get priority scheduling during peak seasons.

05

Water Quality Monitoring

Hard water requires annual descaling; soft water might stretch to every 2 to 3 years. On your first visit we test your water's mineral content and recommend a frequency tailored to your chemistry. In hard-water zones, most of Central Florida, we explain the trade-off between regular descaling and a whole-home water softener.

05

Predictable Costs & Priority Access

Instead of paying for service calls as failures happen, a maintenance plan spreads costs predictably across the year and guarantees you will not wait for service during peak seasons. Plan members receive member discounts on any repairs needed, guaranteed response times, and seasonal reminders.

// Tankless maintenance FAQ

Questions Central Florida asks.

Straight answers, no upsell, no runaround.

How often should my tankless water heater be serviced?

In Central Florida's hard-water areas, annual maintenance is ideal to prevent mineral scale from building up in the heat exchanger. If your water is soft, every 2 years may be sufficient. We assess your water hardness during your first visit and recommend a schedule that protects your investment cost-effectively.

What is included in a maintenance plan?

Our standard plan includes a comprehensive system inspection, water hardness testing, performance testing of all sensors and valves, a safety check, and a detailed report. Annual descaling, priority scheduling, and discounts on emergency repairs are available as add-ons or in premium plan tiers.

What is descaling, and why is it necessary?

Descaling is a professional flush of the heat exchanger using a food-safe dilute acid that dissolves calcium and magnesium deposits without damaging the copper tubing. As scale accumulates, it reduces efficiency and heating power. Annual descaling in hard-water areas prevents this and extends system life by 3 to 5 years.

Should I have a water softener installed with my tankless system?

It depends on your water hardness. If your water is very hard, over 250 PPM, a whole-home softener pays for itself through reduced maintenance and longer system life. We test your water and provide a cost-benefit analysis. Many customers find a softener plus annual maintenance gives the lowest 15-year cost of ownership.

Can I descale my tankless water heater myself?

You can perform a simple flush with a commercial kit and pump, but professional descaling is more thorough and safer. We use calibrated equipment to circulate the solution at the right pressure and temperature, monitor the process, and verify restored performance. DIY descaling risks damaging seals or introducing air.

What happens if I skip maintenance for a few years?

Skipping maintenance increases the risk of mineral buildup, efficiency loss, and unexpected failures. A system not serviced in 3 to 4 years may have significant scale inside the heat exchanger, requiring aggressive descaling or even heat exchanger replacement. Maintenance is far cheaper than the consequences of neglect.
